June 10, 2010 Update
We have completed shipping early orders as of
June 9 with the exception of a few customers who we are
waiting for a reply to the emails we sent them.
We do have a small number of plants left to
offer for a limited time only. We will begin emailing those
who requested plants today (6/11) and supply them with the
link to the ordering page. The ordering page for tobacco
plants will be by invitation only due to the very limited
supply.
Our last ship dates for this season will be
the 14th, 15th and 16th.
May 20, 2010 Update
First, let me apologize for not getting this
update on here quicker but it has been an overwhelming past
few months and the month of May has been extremely
overwhelming for us.
As I am sure most of you have read or seen
on the news about the historic floods that occurred here in
Tennessee. Our local area received the reported highest
rainfall amounts of over 20 inches in less than 48 hours.
Although our home and barns are on a hill
much of our farming land suffered damage mainly from sever
erosion and rock and gravel debris being washed into them.
Our tobacco float plants were damaged
severely as well, many seedlings being washed out of their
trays. We managed to salvage several of the plants but
it appears we will be short on some of our varieties, we do
not how short we will be until we begin shipping orders. We
planted more seedlings immediately after the flood but they
will not be ready for another two weeks or so.
We also planted seedlings of varieties that
we did not offer on the website this season because we had
sown more seeds than we needed for seed production. We hope
that if we are short on some varieties that you ordered that
you may be interested in substituting plants from the other
varieties we have, they include
Golden
Burley, KY
21,
Little Yellow,
Harrow
Velvet and
Bonanza. These varieties are smaller at this time and will
not be ready for another 2 weeks approximately.
We will begin shipping plants on Monday
(5/24)
We plan on planting more seedlings of different
varieties until the end of the month, but these later ones
will not be ready until late June. One
of our fields right after the flood water receded the
first day of the flooding, this field flooded worse the second
day of floods but we were unable to reach it to take any
pictures.
